If you wish to get married at St. George (to receive the mystery of Crowning), first you should familiarize yourself with the OCA statutes and guidance on marriage, to be found here.
Second, as those statutes make clear, you should connect with the Priest in order to take the first steps toward the Crowning mystery. The Priest will ask to sit down with both the future husband and future wife for an initial dialogue.
After this initial meeting and before the actual Crowning mystery, you will have to go through pre-marital guidance, as the OCA document also makes clear. Expect this guidance to cover two related and relevant topics (Christian maturity and the nature of married life) and to run as follows:
Meeting 1 (on Christian maturity):
- St. Nektarios of Egina, “Mothers and the upbringing of children”
- St. Porphyrios, Wounded by Love, chapter “On the upbringing of children”
- St. Paisios, Spiritual counsels vol 1 With pain and love for contemporary man (read part II ch. 2, part III. chs. 3-4) [purchase the book!]
